Lessons have been assigned to them based on their diagnostic test results both in Math and Reading. Within each lesson are brain break games. The district is pushing a goal of 45 minutes per week on Online Lessons in ELA and 45 minutes per week in Math to close the gaps found in the diagnostic. Math and ELA are providing some of that time during the week, but not all.

Get to know Photoshop!

What you NEED to know!!!!

WHAT ARE WE LEARNING: Adobe Photoshop

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT: Adobe Photoshop, computer application software used to edit and manipulate digital images. Photoshop was developed in 1987 by the American brothers Thomas and John Knoll, who sold the distribution license to Adobe Systems Incorporated in 1988.

HOW WILL MY TEACHER KNOW WHAT I LEARNED:  You will practice different tools and techniques and gradually show your success!

How to create a stop motion effect

Photos don’t have to stand still. With a few quick steps, you can easily add movement to your images. Animate a photo using masks and the timeline in Adobe Photoshop!

We need to grab a file first!

Let's add some pop...

The file has 3 layers, the layer for your name AND the KERNELS layer and the POPCORN layer.

Select the POPCORN layer and create a layer mask by clicking the Create Layer Mask Icon at the bottom of the Layers Panel

Invert the mask, by selecting the mask thumbnail and clicking Ctrl + i (Mask thumbnail should be black)

Sneak a Peak...

Select the layer mask, chose the Brush tool, and set the foreground color to white. Then, paint over the mask to reveal the first piece of popcorn.

Reveal in stages...

This step takes time! Duplicate the layer where the first popcorn kernel was revealed... Ctrl+J or drag the layer to the (+) at the bottom of the Layers Panel.

Then, paint with a WHITE (white is the foreground color) brush to reveal more popcorn!

Repeat this step (example: Duplicate the layer where the second popcorn kernel was revealed, click on the layer mask, with white, paint so the popcorn kernel to reveal) until you have a lot of layers (at least 50! 1 for each piece of popcorn revealed!) and all of the popcorn from the layer below is visible.

YOU WILL HAVE APPROXIMATELY 50 LAYERS...1 for each piece of popcorn! (yes it's alot!)

Create the Timeline...

After you have revealed each piece of popped popcorn... (each on a new layer!)

Click Create Frame Animation from the Timeline (Window > Timeline).

Make animation frames...

To create each state of animation, choose Make Frames From Layers from the Timeline.

Then select frame 2 (frame 1 should just be the kernals) toggle the visibility of the kernels layer off and on to make it visible on all of the frames of the animation! Continue with the other frames, toggling layers off and on!

TIP! Make sure the Name layer is on in EACH FRAME!

Loop It...
