Lessons have been assigned to them based on their diagnostic test results both in Math and Reading. Within each lesson are brain break games. The district is pushing a goal of 45 minutes per week on Online Lessons in ELA and 45 minutes per week in Math to close the gaps found in the diagnostic. Math and ELA are providing some of that time during the week, but not all.

What you NEED to know!!!!

Let's create a new project in RUSH

Premiere Rush

We need to grab a few files first!

Click each of the Download Images on the left!

When prompted...download to the SCALE folder (inside the RUSH Files Folder on your desktop!)

Hint: Desktop>RUSH Files>SCALE

We'll go import these files soon!

Open Premiere Rush

To start a new project, simply click on the blue “Create a New Project” button

Or select FILE>New Project

Name the Project...

On the bottom left name your project: First name Last Name Scale

Make sure the button "Sync with Creative Cloud" is checked!

On the left...

Select DESKTOP

Open the RUSH FILES Folder

OPEN the SCALE Folder

Select the 4 files!

Click on the frames in the order as shown left!

Click Create

Select the first clip in the sequence

Make sure the playhead is right over the primary action or the subject.

In this case, it's the moving airplane

Crop and rotate to open the transform panel.

The basic controls let you adjust the position, scale and rotation of the clip.

In the transform panel...Scale

Let's start with scale because that will affect how we want to position the subject in the frame. With maintained proportions checked, drag the width slider to the right to increase the size of the image.

With maintained proportions checked, drag the width slider to the right to increase the size of the image.

You can also type a numeric value and press return. (125)

TIP: Unchecking maintain proportions lets you adjust the height and width independently, allowing me to stretch or squeeze the image.

Move the playhead again

Before adjusting position controls, I'll move the playhead again so it's parked right where the primary action ends. (the airplane should be just about to leave the frame)

Preview Monitor (adjust monitor size)...

Now click the image in the preview monitor and adjust the monitor size to make sure we can see the thin blue boundary that outlines the edges of the clip.

Pull up on the 2 lines!

Now pull in on the handles to bring the image in...

Vertical position...

We don't want the action of the plane to end too soon, so go to the vertical position controls and drag the slider left to raise the video image higher in the frame as we drag the vertical position slider.

Make sure the bottom corner points end up below the bottom of the frame, so the video fills the frame and there won't be black at the bottom of the clip.

Also, making sure the plane stays fully visible in the frame and that the blue boundary lines stay just outside of the image area.

Rotation controls...

Rotation controls allow you to spin the clip up to 180 degrees in either direction. When you rotate a clip, you may need to readjust the scale settings to keep black from showing around the edges of the frame.

Tip: The original video files are never permanently changed, so you can restore the image anytime by pressing reset to default.

Cool tip!

You don't even need to open the transform panel to change scale and position.

If the clip is selected in the sequence, just click on the preview panel and drag the clips WHITE corner point or Edge Point to change the scale.

Drag near the center of the clip to change its position. Place your cursor near any white corner point or edge point until you see the rotate tool. Then click and slowly drag to adjust rotation. You can always press   Ctrl + Z few times to undo these changes.

Advanced controls...

Reset the basic controls before cropping under crop.

In the Advanced controls section...

Type a value of 12 and press return for both the top and bottom to create a wide screen look. We want to continue this wide screen look in the next clip.

Next clip...

In this clip, the camera pans and tilts.

From the city skyline up to the subject spaces, their heads are fully visible when the playhead is about 1/4 of the way into the shot.

Let’s repeat what we did for the last clip and apply a value of 12% for top and bottom cropping.

Uh, it now looks like we've cropped off these guys heads.

Drag the playhead...

If we drag the playhead, we see their faces eventually come back into frame, but not until playback is halfway through the clip.

So let's try something different.

Reset the advanced controls...

Let's reset the advanced controls and instead of taking 12% from the top and bottom of the clip,  take 24% from just the bottom of the image.

Adjust...

Now we have to adjust the vertical position of the image so it matches the previous clip.

Center this image by typing a vertical value of 670

Now, let’s repeat what we did for the first clip and apply a value of 12% for top and bottom cropping of the remaining clips...to make it complete!

Select the clip we want to adjust, in the advanced section, type a value of 12 and press return for both the top and bottom to create a wide screen look.

Adjusting the second and last clip!

Now, based on what you learned...add a Title to the beginning of the video and add transitions between each clip!

Please make sure past assignments were completed  and shared with me for credit!
