Lessons have been assigned to them based on their diagnostic test results both in Math and Reading. Within each lesson are brain break games. The district is pushing a goal of 45 minutes per week on Online Lessons in ELA and 45 minutes per week in Math to close the gaps found in the diagnostic. Math and ELA are providing some of that time during the week, but not all.

WHAT ARE WE LEARNING: Adobe Illustrator Warping!

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT: Adobe Illustrator is a vector graphics editor and design program developed and marketed by Adobe Inc. 

What you will learn: Warp and Curve Text using different !

HOW WILL MY TEACHER KNOW WHAT I LEARNED:  You apply warping to text you create!

Even Google uses the Reshaping text!

Adobe Illustrator

We need to grab a file first!

Click the Ai Image on the left!

Left click the DOWNLOAD button on the top right

This will save the file to your Arts and Media folder!

Quick Tip! After you click the download button, notice on the top right corner the download should appear...simply click the file to open!

If Missing fonts box appears...click activate fonts to sync the Adobe font to your computer. Click Close after they are activated.

Adobe Font: Boucherie Block Bold

Google the Font name and add "ADOBE"

SAVE (as) YOUR DOCUMENT!

Shortcut: Shift + Ctrl + S

(or File: SAVE AS)


Save to YOUR COMPUTER!

Click the Save on Your Computer button

On the left click THIS PC

Select Desktop

Select Arts and Media Folder

Name the document: 

"First Name Last Name WARP TYPE"

Click SAVE

Illustrator OPTIONS...

Version: Illustrator 2020

click OK

With the document open...

Click on VIEW (on the top menu) and select Fit All in Window! Ctrl + 0

Turn on SMART GUIDES

Click VIEW

Click SMART GUIDES (Check mark should be next to smart guides)

Smart guides will help to easily align the letters with each other as we modify them. (They will show up as Magenta lines)

Select each word

With the Selection Tool selected

Select the word "ARC" with the selection tool (you should see a text bounding box)

Warp each word

With the Selection Tool selected

Select the word "ARC" with the selection tool (you should see a text bounding box)

Warp EACH word!

Choose OBJECT...ENVELOPE DISTORT...

Choose Make with Warp

To see how they work, make sure Preview is selected.

What the result should be...

After you are done, click the Select Tool and make sure each word is not overlapping!

Press Ctrl + S to SAVE!!! Do this often!


EDIT CONTENTS BUTTON:

Editing the text

Using the Selection tool...

With the word ARC selected, go to the Properties panel and click the EDIT CONTENTS button (top right corner)

You can now see the text box instead of the work shape.

To edit the text, select the TYPE TOOL

You can then change the text or formatting/font

Change the word ARC to YOUR FIRST & LAST NAME!

EDIT ENVELOPE BUTTON:

Reshape the text

Using the Selection tool (this will stop editing...)

To edit the shape again, click the EDIT ENVELOPE button in the Properties Panel 

Now Click on one of the BOUNDING BOX anchor points and pull to resize it!

Note: Pulling the anchor points on the text will just move the text!

What the result should be...

NOW!

Using what you just learned (to change the word by clicking the Envelope Contents Button etc)...Change the following to (IN ALL CAPS):

After you are done, click the Select Tool and make sure each word is not overlapping!

Press Ctrl + S to SAVE!!! Do this often!

Curving and warping text are just some of the many ways you can be creative with text in Illustrator!
