The district is pushing a goal of 45 minutes per week on Online Lessons in ELA and 45 minutes per week in Math to close the gaps found in the diagnostic. Math and ELA are providing some of that time during the week, but not all.

What you NEED to know!!!!

WHAT ARE WE LEARNING: Adobe Photoshop

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT: Adobe Photoshop, computer application software used to edit and manipulate digital images. Photoshop was developed in 1987 by the American brothers Thomas and John Knoll, who sold the distribution license to Adobe Systems Incorporated in 1988.  ​

HOW WILL MY TEACHER KNOW WHAT I LEARNED:  You will practice different tools and techniques and gradually show your success!

Simple selections 2

Learn how to make selections and adjust with layers.

We need to grab a file first!

Click the Ps Image on the left!

Left click the DOWNLOAD button on the top right

This will save the file to your Arts & Media folder!

Quick Tip! After you click the download button, notice on the top right corner the download should appear...simply click the file to open!

SAVE (as) YOUR DOCUMENT!

Shortcut: Shift + Ctrl + S

(or File: SAVE AS)


Save to YOUR COMPUTER!

Click the Save on Your Computer button

On the left click THIS PC

Select Desktop

Select Arts and Media Folder

Name the document: 

"First Name Last Name DOGS"

Click SAVE

Learning selection basics

Use a selection to edit part of an image.

Rectangular and square selections

The Rectangular Marquee tool is used to make rectangular and square selections.

Select the Rectangular Marquee tool in the Tools panel. Click and drag to make a rectangular selection.

If you want a square selection, press the Shift key as you’re dragging.

YOUR TASK:

Using the Rectangular Marquee tool

Click and pull a rectangle on the inside of ONE of the picture frames...selecting just the photo in the frame

Layers:

Make sure the FRAMES Layer is selected

Go to the bottom of the Layers panel and click the Create New Fill or Adjustment Icon

Choose Solid Color

Color Picker:

Now you can select a color from the swatches (notice your cursor is now the eyedropper)

Click on a ONE of the Color Swatches at the bottom of the image 

Click OK

You will see that this created a new color fill layer in the layers panel

Tint

Now with the color fill layer selected, go to the Blend mode pull down menu...

Click and select COLOR

NOW

Repeat the process for EACH dog image using a different color from the bottom color swatches!

When you are done...

Turn OFF the Colors Layer by clicking on the eye in the layers panel next to the Colors Layer 

After you make a selection, you can re-position it by clicking inside the marching ants with a selection tool and dragging. You also can re-shape the selection by choosing Select > Transform Selection and dragging any of the edges or corners of the boundary.

Remember! Because we made adjustments to our layers our original photo remains intact!
