The district is pushing a goal of 45 minutes per week on Online Lessons in ELA and 45 minutes per week in Math to close the gaps found in the diagnostic. Math and ELA are providing some of that time during the week, but not all.

Important to set stroke color, fill color, and stroke weight before drawing

Left click the DOWNLOAD button on the top right
This will save the file to your ARTS and MEDIA folder!
Quick Tip! After you click the download button, notice on the top right corner the download should appear...simply click the file to opn!

Let's open Adobe Illustrator now
On your desktop...you can double click (click click) the Illustrator icon (shown left) or
Click the windows icon on the bottom left of your screen and a list of programs will appear
Click on Adobe Illustrator
With Illustrator open, you can open a file by choosing file in the menus above and then OPEN or OPEN on the Left hand side!
This is also where you can start a new file but we'll do that later!

Let's open the file we downloaded!
Click OPEN
On the left of the screen that pops up, click DESKTOP
If Downloads does not show up, click (on the left) THIS PC...then on the right look for DESKTOP and (left) Double click (click click!)
SAVE (as) YOUR DOCUMENT!
Shortcut: Shift + Ctrl + S
Today we are saving to our computer!!!
Save to YOUR COMPUTER!
Click the Save on Your Computer button
On the left click THIS PC
Select Desktop
Select Arts and Media Folder
Name the document:
"First Name Last Name Monster Pen"
Click SAVE

Version: Illustrator 2020
click OK
With the document open...
Click on VIEW (on the top menu) and select Fit Artboard in Window!
Shortcut: Ctrl + 0
Set the stroke and fill BEFORE drawing!
To start with the Pen tool, select the Pen tool in the Toolbar
Set the stroke and fill BEFORE drawing!
At the top left of your screen, click the down arrow beside the Fill box and select NONE...
Set the stroke color to RED...
Set the stroke weight to 10 pt
Create Straight Lines
1. Create the Teeth artboard
To create straight lines with the Pen tool, click and release to create an anchor point. Move the pointer, and you’ll see a preview of the path you are creating.
Click and release to create another anchor point. You can continue clicking and releasing in different areas to create more anchor points for the path.
To close a path, move the pointer over the original anchor point and, when a circle shows next to the pointer, press the Shift key and click the end point. To stop drawing a path without closing it, press the Escape key.

Create Curves
2. Draw the Antenna artboard
To draw a curve when creating an anchor point, drag to create direction handles, and then release.
The more you drag when creating or editing anchor point handles, the more curve the path has.
Create corner points (change path direction)
3. Create the Mouth artboard
To change the direction of a path while drawing, drag to create a smooth point (a curve). Release the mouse button. Move the pointer over the end of a direction handle, press the Alt key, and drag the end of the handle to split them.
Remove direction handles
To remove a direction handle as you draw with the Pen tool, so that you can go from a curve to a straight line, click back on the last anchor point created to remove the handle. Then continue drawing.
It should look something like this (below) when you are done! Do NOT worry about filling in with color!

Practice using the PEN TOOL on the final Artboard
Tip! You might need to re-set the Point size and fill for the pen. Try 4 or 5 pt and BLACK for the stroke color. Fill leave at NONE (for now)
Don't forget YOUR name (first and last name!) on the bottom right!!!
