Lessons have been assigned to them based on their diagnostic test results both in Math and Reading. Within each lesson are brain break games. The district is pushing a goal of 45 minutes per week on Online Lessons in ELA and 45 minutes per week in Math to close the gaps found in the diagnostic. Math and ELA are providing some of that time during the week, but not all.
WHAT ARE WE LEARNING: Adobe Photoshop
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT: Adobe Photoshop, computer application software used to edit and manipulate digital images. Photoshop was developed in 1987 by the American brothers Thomas and John Knoll, who sold the distribution license to Adobe Systems Incorporated in 1988.
HOW WILL MY TEACHER KNOW WHAT I LEARNED: You will practice different tools and techniques and gradually show your success!
Make sure you have selected the TREE layer!
Double click the TEXT of new layer and rename it NAME
Select the Horizontal Type Tool from the tool bar on the left
You should see the marching ants
Try Arial Black at 90 pt
Move you name so it is partially over the mountains in the back!
This is how the TYPE TOOL works! Pretty simple right?
This will save the file to your Arts & Media folder!
Shortcut: Shift + Ctrl + S
(or File: SAVE AS)
Save to YOUR COMPUTER!
Click the Save on Your Computer button
On the left click THIS PC
Select Desktop
Select Arts and Media Folder
Name the document:
"First Name Last Name MAUI"
Click SAVE
Layer masks are like digital masking tape. They let you hide part of a layer nondestructively, without removing what's on the layer.
Open the Brush Presets picker (on the top dropdown).
Set size to 25 px and Hardness to 40% for a small, semi-soft brush.
Make sure the Opacity for the brush is set to 100%!
Tip: Make sure BLACK is the FOREGROUND COLOR by pressing X on your keyboard!
Paint over the upper right and lower right of the letter I. Painting with black on the mask hides the text, revealing the whale on the layer below!
Don't worry about being too careful as you paint. We will learn ho to clean up any overspray next!
Paint over the very bottom part of the M, A U, so they look like they're coming out of the ocean. Once you begin to paint, you can also hold the SHIFT key down and drag to paint a straight line!
If you accidently hide too much of the text, the fix is to paint with WHITE on the layer mask! (press X on the keyboard to switch it to white in the foreground)
Do NOT close PHOTOSHOP until your work is verified!!!
Based on what you have just learned, add a layer mask to you NAME layer and brush away the parts of the letters to look like your name is behind the mountains!
