Students click on the Clever icon on the desktop 

Sign in using the username & password (same as logging into computer)

Click on the square that says iReady 

Continue until time is up!

Lessons have been assigned to them based on their diagnostic test results both in Math and Reading. Within each lesson are brain break games. The district is pushing a goal of 45 minutes per week on Online Lessons in ELA and 45 minutes per week in Math to close the gaps found in the diagnostic. Math and ELA are providing some of that time during the week, but not all.

What you NEED to know!!!!

WHAT ARE WE LEARNING: Adobe Photoshop: Layer concepts

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT: 

HOW WILL MY TEACHER KNOW WHAT I LEARNED:  You will practice different tools and techniques and gradually show your success!

LAYERS

Change the order of content 

We need to grab a file first!

Click the Ps Image on the left!

Left click the DOWNLOAD button on the top right

This will save the file to your Arts & Media folder!

Quick Tip! After you click the download button, notice on the top right corner the download should appear...simply click the file to open!

SAVE (as) YOUR DOCUMENT!

Shortcut: Shift + Ctrl + S

(or File: SAVE AS)


Save to YOUR COMPUTER!

Click the Save on Your Computer button

On the left click THIS PC

Select Desktop

Select Arts and Media Folder

Name the document: 

"First Name Last Name BURGER"

Click SAVE

With the document open...

Click on VIEW (on the top menu) and select Fit on Screen! Ctrl + 0

Learning to use Layers makes managing your content faster and easier!

Create a new layer, add artwork to that layer, and change some properties for the layer...

Working with layers in the layers panel is useful in a lot of ways including for example when you have different elements in an icon or a logo that you need to work on individually without affecting the other elements. 

Layers Panel

To access the layers in the document you'll open the layers panel… so choose WINDOW then LAYERS (F7 on the Keyboard)


You will see each layer is LOCKED and named


Let's unlock them!


Press Ctrl + S to SAVE!!! Do this often!

UNLOCKED:

Unlock the layers!

Like Illustrator, we can lock and unlock layers. But in Photoshop, the lock is just in a different spot (same priciple applies).

To unlock...

Select the Cheese layer

Then click the LOCK icon at the top of the Layers Panel or on the right of the layer to unlock

The LOCK shown on the layer should disappear (it is UNLOCKED)

Now, unlock all of the layers except Bottom Bun and Background!

Correcting the Layer order...

We now need to move the layers so they are in the correct order!

In the Layers dialog box, click and pull each layer (down and up) until they are in the following order!

TIP: Release the layer when you see the BLUE LINE where you are placing the layer!

Moving the items

Using the MOVE TOOL simply click and drag the ingredient into place

Remember to lock the layer when you are done moving the ingredient!

Start with the lettuce layer (leave the Bottom Bun locked and where it is!)

It should look like this...

Press Ctrl + S to SAVE!!! Do this often!


Make a bigger burger!

Unlock the Layers...

Now, unlock all of the layers except Bottom bun and Background!

To Duplicate a Layer...

Now there should be COPIES of the layers!


Press Ctrl + S to SAVE!!! Do this often!


Moving the items

Remember to move the layers around so each ingredient is in the correct order!

Remember to lock the layer when you are done moving the ingredient!

Press Ctrl + S to SAVE!!! Do this often!


SHOW ME ON YOUR SCREEN!!

Do not close Photoshop until your work is verified!!!


Being able to add and rename layers helps you organize and manage your content.

As you get more comfortable with layers, you'll find that adding and renaming them is especially useful for complex projects that use multiple objects and elements!
